04/JUN/2011: Release of MRPT 0.9.4 (aka MRPT 1.0.0 RC2)

It's been a while since the last stable release, so this new version comes with tons of changes. The most important are:

  • Improved support for Kinect: Now with libfreenect embedded for both Windows and Linux. In Windows, this means that you will only need to install the libusb driver as a dependency (read more).
  • Support for new sensors: Hokuyo UXM (USB) and Ibeo Lux (Ethernet) laser scanners.
  • Dozens of performance improvements, including SSE2/3 hand-optimized code in many places, including image operations than are now ~20 times faster than their OpenCV equivalents.
  • Many bug fixes.

See the complete list of changes here: http://reference.mrpt.org/0.9.4/changelog.html Also, this is the first version where both 32 and 64bit precompiled versions are provided for Windows. As usual, MRPT can be downloaded from here or from Ubuntu PPA repositories. Any (good or bad!) feedback will be welcome, since it's fundamental to keep MRPT improving with each release.
